[Bug]: Effects disappear when panel item gets focus

I have:

• [ X] Verified that I am using the latest version (see Widget settings > About page or top right corner for version 0.4.0 and later), should be the same as https://github.com/luisbocanegra/plasma-wallpaper-effects/releases/latest

Install method used:

• Using Plasma's "Add new widget" (KDE Store)
• AUR
• [X ] Manually from the latest source code

Describe the bug

The effects "stop working" when I open the start menu or the "show more arrow" for the bluetooth, wifi etc settings.
I think the desired behaviour would be to keep it on even if plasmoids are getting the focus.

I am also using the panel colorizer widget on the panel.

actuallly, as of version v0.6.0, I cannot reproduce this issue anymore.
is it fixed @luisbocanegra ? I'm loving the recent delevopments btw! ❤️

Hi @matezoltanfarkas, it still happens for me, and unfortunately it turned out to be not so simple to fix, because org.kde.taskmanager (what we use to get the list of open windows) ignores these and other special types of windows, so there is no way for me to ignore them for now.

I will try pocking in the KDE's C++ code to see if I can make them show up as windows and possibly send a patch upstream

are you sure it's neccessary to tweak the C++ code? There could be a hack which might be easier for you to implement if it's working for me.

Oh, did you change the enable option for the effects?

By default all effects are set to "Active window is present", if I change it to "At least one window is shown" then the effects are kept because even if we don't know that a widget popup was opened we still know there is another window visible

For active windows is present I always track the current active window, but since when you focus on a panel or click on a widget we lose track of that window and the active window becomes null if I recall correctly, and that's why the effects disappear
