Description
Audio playing when muted or volume set to 0 in extension settings
OS and Shell Information
Please provide your OS name and version, GNOME Shell version, and the session type (X11/Wayland).
- OS: Bazzite Stable (F42.20250916)
- GNOME Shell: 48
- Session type: Wayland
- Processor: AMD Ryzen™ 9 7900X × 24
- Graphics: AMD Radeon™ RX 7800 XT
- Kernel: Linux 6.16.4-108.bazzite.fc42.x86_64
Steps to Reproduce
- Set wallpaper that has sound
- Set sound control in extensions settings to Mute, or Volume to 0, or both
Expected Behavior
Any sound associated with the video file should not be audible.
Actual Behavior
The sound is faint but audible.
Additional Information
In Gnome Settings > Sound > Volume Levels, Hanabi appears as "gjs" with the volume set to about 50% regardless of the volume in the Extension settings. Muting it from this menu seems to function as expected, which is a satisfactory work around for me, but I thought it might be something to look into in case others are having the problem.
If there is a log I can't find it, sorry...
EDIT:
Turns out that if it's set to pause when you play other media or go fullscreen, the volume of gjs is reset to 50% in the sound manager (or it may be a new instance. Not sure).
