actual data vis on visualisation page

current libraries on viz page are using js libs to create maps, should we discuss matplotib / mapnik, which do actual map generation

what are typical use cases we foresee?
- interact with python backend from browser (jupyter notebook)
- use python from QGIS console or plugin
- generate image for usage in a report
