According to esphome/esphome#10355, esp32_i2s is no longer supported. I cannot find anything to corroborate this, and the documentation still includes it. If it is indeed no longer supported, the documentation should state as such. Currently, it is listed as the recommended method for ESP32, so many users will face issues if it is indeed deprecated.

Edit: If a platform-specific deprecation occurred, deprecation messages should state the last supported version.

Additional information

It is also possible that the comment on esphome/esphome#10355 is incorrect (thus why I didn't open a PR instead). In this case, a user with collaborator or higher permissions should clarify the current status of the support.

As per the closed linked issue comment, configs for esp32 should be using esp32_rmt_led_strip. This is also present in a warning at the very top of the documentation for neopixelbus.

The warning at the top of the page does not mention when this change occurred. Prior to updating my firmware, my setup using neopixelbus functioned without compile errors. (esp32-s2-saola-1 using arduino for the framework)

The closed issue comment says "You should be using the RMT LED component instead.", not esp32_rmt_led_strip. This is confusing, as the first thing a user sees on neopixelbus when esp32_i2s doesn't work is esp32_rmt, which sounds similar (especially for non-technical users). However, using it results in the same issue.
