Rewrite in progress

hiii, i don't know if people actually check github discussions, but i'm rewriting the gag calculator, and chances are the new version won't be hosted on github. it will instead be hosted on codeberg.

here's the important bits:

• the math module has already been removed from the calculator itself. it has become its own separate library to make using it in other programs much easier
• the license will be changed to MIT
• the application will use qt instead of tkinter because it will look nicer and offer more features
• compiling for other platforms via actions is much more difficult off github so i can't guarantee every platform will see a release. i will try to create an actually competent makefile to help the process at least be somewhat easy
• this will probably take a while.

once the rewrite is feature complete, i will be archiving this repository with a notice about the new one. this version of the calculator will not be updated once the rewrite is out, but it will still be able to be downloaded via releases for as long as github remains around. the new repository will not be mirrored on github.

update, sort of!

i went on a bit of an adventure over the last couple days and made a web version of the calculator too! it has almost every feature (missing a couple keybinds, snowballs, editing keybinds) the downloadable one has and it's kinda horrible on mobile right now (if people ask i will try to fix this) but i think it's cool! find it here

the downloadable rewrite will still happen i just have ten billion other projects and juggling all of them is a bit of a nightmare! it will be finished eventually trust

i should probably note there's a couple issues with floating point values, but i don't think it's an issue in regular gameplay calculations

ok i got bored and made it mobile compatible anyways lol. it should only break at super super low resolutions

with the new launcher coming with its own gag calculator, i'm considering just. not finishing the rewrite. once the new launcher comes out, i'm archiving this repo. this isn't really a decision made solely by there coming into existence an "official" gag calculator--i'm just not having fun with this project anymore. it started just as a little fun application to help me learn python, and it also carried me through some basic rust, but it hasn't been enjoyable to maintain for a while now.

it's probably really silly to make a statement like this for my small hobby program, but i know some people like it enough to ask me to make alternate versions (the web calculator) and deserve to know what's going on with it. thanks for the support over the years.
