Is there a windows version?

This app is wonderful! I've seen a windows folder in the code and wanted to know if there was a software version running on the computer? 🙏

Sorry, I'm not a program developer. I have tried to understand the Dart language and the flutter platform.

I saw that Flutter can build apps for multiple platforms like Web, Windows, and macOS.

If I want to run a Flutter app on my desktop, do I need to build and package the installer myself? And is that process difficult for someone without much programming experience?

Hi! You are right, Wispar builds on Android, iOS, MacOS and Windows! It also builds on Linux, but a package the app relies a lot on is not available on Linux.

I actually, submitted the MacOS version when I release v0.8.0, but Apple rejected it and asked to get API keys for Zotero and AI. I'll try to resubmit it soon with their requested keys (hopefully their reviewers won't burn through my tokens 🥲).

I only tried the Windows version briefly in a virtual machine on my MacBook and in a virtual machine on my Linux computer. On MacOS it worked correctly, but on Linux there was a SSL error (or something related to http requests). So I have no idea if the app actually works or not on Windows, since I could only test in VMs and they both had different results😅 Also, according to both Windows VMs the article downloads act a bit weird and in a different way than other platforms, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

To answer your question, currently yes, you would need to build the app. However, making an installer yourself shouldn't be necessary. Once the app is built, you will get an .exe file that you can run to start the app (it just needs its dependencies that are inside the build folder, along with the .exe file).

To build the app, you would first need to install and setup Flutter : https://docs.flutter.dev/get-started/quick
Then install visual studio community edition with the correct packages for Windows development : https://docs.flutter.dev/platform-integration/windows/setup

I think the build will fail, since you need nuget in you path : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/nuget/install-nuget-client-tools
There might be another thing to do to get Wispar to build for Windows, but I forgot.
