How does Advantage-Kit work?

FTC and incoming-FRC mentor here, still trying to earn my (self-assigned) title of amateur coder! 😁 Since I'm always better at learning the details of a system, once I understand how all the pieces fit together, I'm hoping you will help draw the missing gears in my Rube Goldberg mental image.

(For simplicity, assume the most vanilla implementation. Also, I apologize for any invalid premise in questions.)

How does Advantage Kit (AK), fit into the execution pipeline?

If that's too vague, Do AK functions do all the logging?

Does AK ever run in the background (asynchronously), or does it only do work when it "has focus".

I would recommend that you start by watching this conference we presented at the 2024 FIRST Championship regarding simulation and log replay (we will post the recording of the 2025 conference soon).
