Hi all,

using Better Thermostat with Sonoff TRVZB and window sensors. If I configure the window sensors on open to close the thermostat it does not show the change on the Better Thermostat card in my dashboard. The do what I want though. It shows correctly on the card in dashboard of the Sonoff thermostat, but not on the Better Thermostat card. Feature or bug or am I the problem?

I have the same Sonoff TRVZB and have been having problems with BT for months. This manifested itself in the fact that the thermostats did not open when heating was requested or only opened very late. Only restarting HA helped the thermostats respond. I used to think BT was really good, but now that people have tried to turn BT into a jack-of-all-trades, more and more problems have arisen. That's why I switched to a versatile thermostat as an experiment. And what can I say, just perfect in conjunction with the Blueprint TRV Calibrator. The configuration is a bit tricky but once you get it right it works almost perfectly.

I have quite a few Sonoff TRVs, like 10, and i can use them pretty good with BetterThermostat(=bt) provided i setup like this:

• target_temp_step: 0.5sec (1st page of setup)
• calibration: target temperature based (2nd page of setup)
• calibration mode: aggressive (2nd page of setup)

It seems, in fact, that bt it's just too optimistic and think the TRVs are open while they are actually closed with a like 0.1° difference (set to 20°, temp is at 19.9°: TRV is closed, but bt think it's open). And also, bt would set some weird offsets to the temperature that didn't make the TRV actually open or close without the above settings.

Tried it, screwed with TRVs causing them to need factory reset. First sign was external temps on each TRV shot up even though the environment hadn't changed. Then notice firmware unavailable on them. Gave up.

Thats.... Well, I have 10 sonoff trvs and not a single issue like your...

Yes, I have one that tend to get crazy and need a reset once or twice per year, but regardless of BT.
